Gamekeeper John was kind enough to give me some flatband strips and leather to use on Bill hay's striker s/shot unfortunately I cannot get it to work for me I have posted a video giving as much information as I possibly can.

Are those bands tapered? I can't tell from the video. If they are I would try cutting from the pouch end rather than the fork end. Makes it more of a pain to shorten them but they work better. When I used flats (I'm all fixed tubes again now) I would cut them 8.5" long for my former 34" draw and that worked fine.

It looks to me that it's tied ok. (especially like how you fold the leftover bit back under the tie. thanks for showing that part, might steal that from you

How does the distance from the center between the forks to the aiming point on the slingshot compare to your regular slingshot?

For TBG drawlength devided by five should be the active length of the bands. (from your chrony results I'd think you already have that).

What you could do is
- lower your anchor point. (But I guess you might not want to do that. )
- tie the bands OTT, that way you have a good inch to adjust your aim upward (no fork over the target) (for OTT you might want to slightly change the way you tie the pouch to get straight bands)

edit:
Thought of 2 things you could try:
- To find out if you have unequal bands you could reverse them, so top band on the bottom and vice versa. (If your lower band is stronger it will pull the ammo downward)
- loop the bottom band around the inside of the fork. (probably not such a good idea because of fork hits)

When I tried those TheraGold Excersize Bands I ended up cutting them longer and more narrow and no tapper. Square cut 1/2 inch or 5/8 wide and 12 inch long and then I worked it down from there. The best or what worked for me was from pouch tie to fork tie was 9 1/2 inch and single band per side then it shot well enough for me to hit consistantly. I do not like Thereaband performance at all. I like tubes much better.

I still have some left so will give it another go, I have shot theraband gold in the past and never had trouble before only with premature snaps thats why I stopped using it,
I'm just confused as to why it's not working for me a pride thing I think I don't like failing.

Great Video! In my opinion your grouping is good but low... Two ways to fix- 1-aim higher (either by anchor adjustment or fork tweak) 2- increase velocity (lighter ammo, stronger bands, double bands...) If you don't want to mess with your shooting style and want the rounds to hit higher you have to go either lighter ammo or stronger bands for a flatter trajectory.

(That is assuming both bands are matched in length, taper and draw weight) Just a thought.

The bands are even so it's not that i'm going to change the pouch I have fitted it with my jacket leather pouch, it is quite light so I am going to put the pouch on that I kept from tex's set up it's heavier and thicker if that fails i'm going to fit it to one of my own s/shots I have a feeling the pouch is the problem but will have to wait until tomorrow if it does not rain not the best of weather here.

Thanks for your comments everyone, it's certainly not the s/shot as I had no problems with tex bands it was deadly accurate, and theraband gold also has excellent results many forum members use it, Ive gathered valuable information from you all so we will see what happens tomorrow inbetween practice shooting in Bill hays predator comp trying to fine tuning my accuracy.

That slingshot is absolutely beautiful. I wouldn't give up on it.

Lot's of good advice given above. I bet you will be able to trace the problem down.

Is this your first venture over into flatbands? There is a learning curve, I've learned, to all new bands or set-ups or frames.

You amaze me with your accuracy on those fixed-tube shooters. I think if you stick with it, you'll get it figured out.
