The vice mechanism block connects with the moving band mounting block

The wood unit containing the threaded vice mechanism rod is connected to the band mounting block by means of two wood screws. This ensures rigidity of the entire setup. The band mounting block moves along the steel rod rails of the rig according to the direction in which the vice rod is turned.

The vice mechanism is essentially a freely rotating threaded rod (vice screw) inside a circular hole, with a perpendicularly placed screw with a smaller diameter inserted in the end to stop the main rod from sliding out. The hole inside the wood unit starts at 12 mm width, and then decreases to the rod diameter of 8 mm ("necked down"). A non-rotating T-nut placed in the side wall of the rig allows the threaded rod to be rotated by means of an external wheel, and thus pulls along the moving band mounting block on the rails: this is how the band ends are placed under tension to enable tying the pouch to the band without difficulties.

As opposed to the old version, the vice rod mechanism is now directly connected to the wood block on the two steel rod "rails".
