In Topic: Why do you think archery is more popular then slingshots ?

19 March 2017 - 09:15 AM

Was reading an article yesterday by James Wesley Rawles titled: "Quiet Rimfire Shooting Without a Suppressor".  And although it was mainly about .22 rimfire, it did somewhat address this issue in the body of the piece, under section titled "ALTERNATIVES".  And even went so far as to suggest that, as a quiet stealth hunting alternative to firearms, slingshots are the superior choice, even to archery, for hunting small game,  . . . provided you have the skills.   :)

Appreciate the video and like the Velcro idea.  I've been looking into a similar setup for making some 'shooting videos'.

On another note, appears you almost got yourself some pigeon pie!

In Topic: 3/8 vs 7/16 steel

Not that difficult really.  If you're serious about hunting then buy some of both.  Use the 3/8's on the "small" pests, and the 7/16's on the pigeons.  As Winnie said, humanely dispatching you're prey with the appropriate ammo is important, and blunt trauma with larger ammo makes for a more humane kill.

As far as squirrels go, they're tough critters and I'd feel more comfortable with 1/2" steel (if you're stickin' with steel).

Just my 2 cents.  :)

In Topic: Dove hunting with my sps (graphic)

Judging from the number of steps you took to reach the dove, plus the elevation on the wire, I'm estimating that shot to have been a good 25 yds +.  A very fine shot indeed and quite a testament to the potential hunting power of 3/8's steel!, (with good shot-placement).
