Were to find slingshot pouch leather

26 March 2011 - 03:29 PM

i have been buying my leather for my slingshot bands on ebay from the local Micheal's craft store in small 8"by 11" sheets for their marked up price. In the past couple of days i have gotten complaints that the pouches have been breaking so i'm looking for an alternative leather supplier. I am wondering if anyone knows were i could get a large amount of leather, like 5-15 square feet for around $5 or so per square foot that is finished on one side and is good for slingshot pouches. Preferably some were in the U.S. because international shipping prices would not make it worth wile. thanks for the help

a days worth of forks

21 March 2011 - 07:25 AM

Yesterday my dad asked me if i would like to go with him to to mark trees for a logging job he will be doing. A few other members have started collecting forks so i decided to take my hand saw along with me. After a couple of hours of walking the woods i ended up with 11 naturals. 10 forks that will work good and 1 that i am trying to get to bend for a U shaped natural. When these are finished i will upload some pictures. Thanks for looking

What i have been up to

28 February 2011 - 06:27 PM

Hey guys, Its Devan. I haven't posted any of my slingshot projects in a wile so i thought i would upload my latest. I have been enjoying working with my new grizzly band saw and my grizzly spindle sander that i got for my birthday and Christmas. Soon i will show my new tools to the forum but for now just my slingshots.

First is a hawthorn natural than i spent a lot of time carving to leave spots of bark on. I used a walnut stain and 3 coats of polyurethane. I put some gypsy tabs on using cat food bag string - has anyone tried this stuff? which i have found to work great for gypsy tabs. I also used black nylon cord to whip a handle which is very comfortable. Some Double theraband hunter bands and its ready for the woods, too bad seasons end today Posted Image. I have chosen this to be my "main" slingshot for plinking and hunting.

Next is a zebra wood laminate with a walnut center that i made for my dads friend. This has turned out very well with 3 coats of poly and a set of double bands for keeping the squirrels out of his yard Posted Image. I love this zebra wood, i will definitely be using it for future slingshots. Hope he likes it and i hope you do too =]

thanks for looking

long lasting elastic

07 February 2011 - 06:45 PM

hey all, soon hunting seasons will be coming to an end and i wont be needing heavy hunting sets for a wile. I am wondering what kind of elastic i should buy for plinking in the woods and maybe some small rodent hunting(rats and mice). i use theraband gold at the moment but i was thinking about trying something new. For right now i am looking at ether gum rubber or square elastic. for those of you who have tried these types of bands before please let me know how many shots do you get compared to tb gold, also what is the power output of square elastic or gum rubber compared to tb gold. were can i find square elastic and gum rubber sheets to cut into bands?thanks in advance for the help
