Electric Cutout Tool

20 March 2017 - 05:53 AM

Hey is does anyone have experience with electric cutout tools?  Basically the generic of the RotoZip cutting tool.

I have one I bought from Harbor Freight and Tools.  It works nicely to cut out stuff from plywood when you do your part.  I am using the RotoZip brand cutting bits in mine.

The question I have is could you use the round-over router type bits like for a dremel tool in it?  The shank is the same size and all, just worried about the rpms.  I think it would be "unpleasant" if one of those bits came apart.

Thanks for your time and input :)

Metal plate behind paper targets?

25 February 2017 - 03:29 AM

Hey I understand that you get clearer marks on our paper target when there is a metal plate behind it.  But that is all I can find.  How close to the plate should the target be? I'm thinking pretty well touching. How thick of a plate do I need, is one type better than another?  Does hitting the plate deform 3/8 or 1/2 inch steel ball projectiles?  I have a catch box set up and am thinking of mounting an old heavy stainless steel baking sheet (around 1/8 thick) in it so it is free hanging and clipping my targets to it.  I know there will be some rebound so I plan to put down a moving blanket to catch the ammo. Does this sound plausible?  Just curious before I start cutting the baking sheet and all. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help point me in the right direction.

Wrench stick shot

17 February 2017 - 01:26 AM

I saw this online and had to try it.  I used a 11/16 inch wrench, an old occularis plug, some theraband gold, some dankung tubing and of course a pouch.  It is very fun to shoot and when I was starting out the few "fork" hits I got did nothing to the wrench.

Neat little project with a dollar invested, the wrench was 1 dollar at the thrift store,  everything else I had on hand.  Also the 11/16 inch wrench fit the plug I had better that a 3/4 inch wrench.

Figure 8 descender slingshot for trade

11 February 2017 - 11:38 PM

Hey all got this for Christmas and it just does not fit my hand well.  It is drilled to mount tabs that can be oriented either ott or ttf.  No fork hits, well made.  Sorry but I need to keep it in the USA.  Any questions just ask.

I am looking for a Peerless or non Ocularis or Champ Axiom or Maixim from Simple Shot.  Anything except a Ranger OTT or old style HTS from Pocket Predator.  Or anything else you have that catches my eye.

Note:  If you have something nice that is not on the list it does not mean I am not interested it simply means that I don't know that I am interested yet :)

Cando Gold any ideas

12 January 2017 - 12:26 AM

I bought 10 feet of Cando Gold from a vendor on ebay and I am very underwhelmed.  Other than giving me something cheap to learn to use my rotary cutter set up on and padding clamp jaws I don't see a use for it in the realm of slingshots.

I is a poor band material and a poorer excuse for a band-to-fork wrap.

I just thought I would see if anyone had some way that I am unaware of to get it to perform.  Thanks.
