Slingbow Prototype - Rethinking the Arrow

26 March 2017 - 12:32 PM

Offered for your consideration, comments, suggestions, and advice.  I continue to have difficulty launching a standard 30" arrow from a slingbow using an archery nock to interface w/ the slingbow.

The arrow is based on the Filipino pana.  12" long and fletched w/ 3, 3" turkey feathers, 100 gn. field point.  The nock is a bent paperclip to attached to the string on the slingbow.  I attached the nock to the front of the arrow, near the point, w/ whipped dental floss.  The arrow is gripped on the back end, near the fletching.  The grip needs work!

Slingbow is a modified Trumark WS-1.  4 office rubberbands, gypsy tabs.  The string is a piece of cotton butcher's twine.

This design is showing promise.  I am able to launch the arrow fairly accurately at this point.  I am not able to get as good a draw and as clean a release with the current grip design.

Looking for advice regarding grip design.

The floor is open for questions and comments.

Viper Slingshot Rifle - Opinions? Advice?

21 November 2016 - 06:31 PM

I located this on that big auction site.

Does anyone have any experience w/ this or any other similar slingshot?  Is it even a slingshot?  Does it matter?  Advice? Opinions? Recommendations?

If you know of any alternatives, especially something made but any of the forum sponsors or participants, please let me know. I would much prefer to support a builder here.

Thanks!

Seeking Advice on Frameless Shooting

14 June 2016 - 03:13 PM

Are we allowed to post about a post?  This is the Newbie Sub-Forum, so hopefully anything goes.

There is a discussion in the general forum regarding a Romanian slinger who "rides bareback" (i.e. a frameless shooter).

Here is his how to video

And here he is shooting:

I am looking for advice on how to do this.

I had thought to minimize hand strikes by using a combination of paracord and rubber - much like RomanianShadow does.  However, I had thought to use the paracord as a grip as opposed to a way of attaching the pouch to the rubber.

Any advice (other than - stick with your modified Trumark frames)?

Thanks

I don't see any rubber - but it is human powered.

Golf Ball Launcher - Frame and Band Questions

23 May 2016 - 12:07 PM

With a large pouch (leather reinforced w/ duct tape) and chained #64 rubber bands, 3-3-2-2-1 on a Trumark FS-1, I am able to launch a golf ball about 125 yards.  My goal is 200 yards - for slingshot golf.

Frame Questions -

The FS-1 frame seems to flex with this setup -  is there another frame that I should consider?  I seem to do better with a wrist brace - but I am open to suggestions.

Bands -

I am considering tubes and noticed that Perry at A+ uses Theraband Black for his hunting slingshots.  Any other recommendations?

Also - any suggestions for attaching the tubes to the pouch?

Thanks!
