ECST with a little help from my friends

12 June 2016 - 08:17 PM

I consider myself very lucky that I was able to attend this year’s East Coast Slingshot Tournament. Originally I had a work conflict that would have made it impractical to attend. That all changed a few weeks before the tournament and many of my good friends stepped up and made it possible for me to attend. I was able to cash in some frequent flier miles for the ticket. Many of my friends took over from there. I had a place to sleep, transportation to and from the airport, plenty of food to eat and sodas to drink and ammo to shoot.

If not for the giving nature of many friends, I would not have been able to attend the tournament. Getting together and hanging out with some close friends and shooting slingshots for three days is exactly what I needed. It was so good to meet some friends for the first time in person, and meeting new friends. Words cannot fully explain how grateful I am to everyone who helped make my trip to ECST possible. I’m not going to name names, but you know who you are and what you did. I hope you know how much it means to me. I just hope I can repay you in some way, or pay it forward someday.

I have not laughed that hard or often in a long time. Slingshot camp 2016 was the best weekend I have had in a long time. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Awesome surprise from Drew.

01 February 2016 - 05:18 PM

After checking the mail today, I saw a surprise package from one Mr. Drew Bilbrey. When I opened the box, I saw some beautiful heart wood. When I pulled out the fork, I saw a killer fork staring back at me. Drew sent a very nice looking cedar fork for me to work on.

Drew, thank you for the fantastic fork. I can not wait to start working with this beauty!

Small but Might!

27 January 2016 - 09:35 AM

I recently asked You'llshootyoureyeout to modify the fork tips of two frames to use his binding post attachment method, which he agreed to do. We also discussed his Finn sling ring, which I had been wanting since I first saw it. I told him I was going to buy one, so it was sent to me with the modified frames. It fits my thumb perfectly and even came with full butterfly xsmall tubing and nice pouch.

I've been shooting erasers with it until I get more proficient with butterfly, but I love this thing! It will easily be going with me on all of my business trips.

Luckily I have yet to have any fork or hand hits with it. This is not for the beginning shooter, that is for sure!

For those that are curious, the active length of the tubes is 15 inches.

Wonderful gift from ImEggscellent85

21 January 2016 - 10:35 AM

Some of you may remember a thread about shooting BBs where ImEggscellent85 mentioned shooting at lids as targets. He and I started talking about them and he offered to send me a few to try out. I sent him my address and thought he'd send a few for me to test.

It turns out there were some shipping issues and the package kept getting sent back. He told me he was going to throw in a bonus for the delay.

I could not have been more surprised at the amount of lids he sent (a lot more than I imagined). I have been shooting at one of the small red lids in my portable catch box and can say that they do indeed make fun targets!

The amount of lids more than make up for the delay in my mind (they were sent as a gift after all), but a fantastically finished and paracord wrapped Metro Grade Goods King core was included as well. The core is very nicely sanded and has the edges rounded over very nicely. The paracord wrap is very well done and makes the frame very comfortable to hold. Of course I had to band it up and shoo it, and it is a fantastic shooter.

Thank you for the fantastic gifts my friend.
