Topics I've Started

3 new nattys

06 April 2017 - 03:44 PM

The 2 with the bark removed are Oak and have really different looks.  The butt-less one looks like it has been on the ground for a while.  The butt on the other is Mahogany with black and white spacers.  The guy in the middle with the bark on came out really cool, but I have no idea what type of wood it is.  Now if this snow ever leaves I can get outside and shoot more and probably whittle less!  : )

archery broadheads

06 April 2017 - 03:39 PM

What I have here are 6 Muzzy 125 grain broad heads. I don't shoot arrows and therefore I have no use for them, but they look like they'll do some damage.  They were in a box of stuff given to me by a friend and have never been used.  Let me know what you've got.

PP Boy Scout

05 April 2017 - 01:30 PM

Does anyone have a Pocket Predator Boy Scout that's not getting any love?  I've always liked the looks of them and would like to try one out.   I have an extra HTS for trade or maybe something else.  The are rather inexpensive, so if nobody has one, I'll buy one, thanks!!

a few just about finished

14 March 2017 - 04:31 PM

Here's a few that were finished in BLO and have 1 coat of paste wax, I'll add another coat of wax in a few days.

I found some thin pieces of Yellowheart and used it in 2 of these. One is layered with paper micarta and the other is Yellowheart and Padauk.  The black butted one is buffalo horn pinned with aluminum tubing filled with green chalk and epoxy.

3 of the forks are Oak, the red/yellow striped butt fork, I'm not sure what it is.  All of them fit my hand just fine!  :naughty:

Winter evenings.....

28 February 2017 - 09:20 AM

Here a few that I've been tinkering with during those long winter nites when basement shooting gets boring.  All of them are Oak except the lightest colored one, it's Crepe Myrtle I found while in Virginia over the holidays. I was excited when I found it in a limb pile but there really isn't much grain, next time I find one I think I'll just leave the bark on.
