Hello all, my name is Matthew and I am a newer member of the forum. I'm 16, and currently reside in Orange County, CA (both a blessing and a curse as the area is nice, but there's almost zero hunting/outdoorsy areas around). The slingshot I started with was a Marksman Firestorm, and I've also extensively used a Trumark FSX-FO, shooting instinctively in a style halfway between hammer grip and gangster. I've been reading the forum for a little over 2 months now, and it has inspired me to create my own wooden slingshots, going off of the popular designs of Bill Hays, Jörg Sprave, Bunnybuster, A+, Smitty, and Jaybird (may he rest with the Lord in peace), as well as a couple of my own designs. I generally looked on google images for designs, so I don't know the origin of every design I have used. So far I've used mostly Honduran Mahogany, and made one from Hard Rock Maple (stained in ebony). This is my first batch, and I hope to improve in the future. I'm currently working on a curly maple/padauk laminate batch utilizing ZDP-189's designs, which is working out to be a tough job. Please let me know what you guys think of the slingshots if you can from the picture.

Thanks for all the replies!! I'm semi-new to woodworking, as I have helped my father make furniture before, but I have never done something as precise and small as this before. I understand a lot of people can't stand mahogany because of it's weak nature. However, these frames (especially the Jörg Sprave Phoenix) have survived many a fork hit already. The direct hits usually leave a small dent (aesthetic problem) but have never done anything remotely serious to the structure. Most of the time the fork hit doesn't even seem to have injured the fork at all, especially if was a glancing blow. Granted, I have been using triple strand 1.25 in wide untapered TB Green, not gold. It's still hitting very hard though, at least 20% faster than RRTs with 3/8in steel. I am using a far harder wood (3/4 in thick paduak) as the core for my laminates sandwiched between 2 1/4 in thick curly maple boards. The current ones are 1.2 in thick, which is amounts to a strong frame.
