I had to try this. My first attempt failed on a TTF oak that I am carving. I had a little right kick, apple fork and had to try again. IT WORKS! Very good shooter.
Here are some pointers from a first time top slots. You don't want the slots too wide but you have to be able to get your roll through it when stretched, so just open slots a little at a time.
You do want to roll as youllshootyoureyeout shows you, not just a fold or 2. You want to roll the band so when installed, the pull is against the wood and not the roll.
YshootY I Out shows the ears sticking out after install; here's a tip - stretch the roll and work into the slot, then don't let go of the ears, pinch on the sides of the fork top with one hand and straighten the band out with the other
then slowly release the "ears" and the band will stay nice, centered and flat.
The drumstick grip (looks like a chicken drumstick) is such a natural pointer and is based on the C-Shot in my gallery. -CD
