Went out this morning to a local pond with my Buddy looking for some Bass. Temperature was 43 degrees but light winds-which makes a heck of a difference!
We were in our kayaks. Got nothing for about an hour. Then my friend hooked up with a Crappie.
Then I got one. After getting a few we figured out a pattern. Every time the sun came out, they would hit-and only on something Chrome or silver. He had a Small "rattling rap" in Chrome-I had a silver Mepps #3.
Then some one got a perch, then a bluegill, then a small Bass, then a small foul hooked channel cat! We ended up with 22 total-all small. I got 8 and my Buddy got 14. A real "Mixed Bag" .They wanted a very slow retrieve right above the bottom. Hey, they want what they want!!! Oh yeah, almost forgot, highlight of the day? A pair of Bald Eagles came gliding in! The bigger of the 2 ( huge!) sat in a high tree. That was the female. The male proceeded to swoop down and nailed a trout-very cool! You don't see too many Bald eagles in New Jersey so it's a big deal! Fun day!
