Happy 4th of July Slingshooters!  Today I'd like to show you the one I finished of the two raw Mesquite forks I got from Rockslinger.  I am so in love with this wood!  For slingshots, I think it has even surpassed my old fave: ash. It's hard to describe the beauty and feel of this wood, and my sh!tty photography doesn't even begin...

But here it is.

The density of this wood makes it really feel solid in the hand.  and the color is just lovely.  This one is finished in a linseed/beeswax mix, because I think Misquite looks best with the soft sheen of the wax.

Nice shooter indeed!  Thanks a million, Jim!

Hello Q-Man!  Thanks for your comments. Not hard (difficult). It carves very nicely, but the wood is hard and dense.

Great job Bill, you sure did that fork justice!
I'm on an iPad in a hotel not real familiar with using it yet.

Hope to get back to slingshots soon! Got a nice oak fork waiting !

Thanks everybody.  :cookie:   If you can get your hands on a mesquite fork, carve it up.  It's fantastic wood. I am truly in love with this wood.  I wish it grew around here.  :)

Mesquite really is amazing stuff. AZstinger sent me some and it forever spoiled me for good hard woods.
That's a beauty, DH!
