I have been messing about with this fork for the past week whenever i had some spare time, I had to make a new every day rough n tumble hunter ,after i wrecked my last one so i thought a nice strong oak fork was the best choice,this is the first stage i now need to decide on a finish for it and a good powerfull set of bands or tubes ,any advice from you guy,s will be appreciated .i will post part 2 when finished,thanks for looking.
oh and that is a nice piece of yew i added as a butt cap.

that looks good mate, really nice... I'm diggin the oil finishes at the minute, especially on Oak

Very nice, I prefer double flat bands over the top style but tubes would also work well its really your personal preference.....I do like short fork legths though with at least 60mm gap but yours looks like it'll be a great shooter...

Thats a beauty of a fork. Me personally, i would go for gum rubber if you have any, if not, single TBG with a 30-20mm taper and a nice lightweight pouch. Nice job

Harson, good looking fork! That Yew looks nice too, And BTW, Andy wasn't saying nice finish on your sling, you asked advice on finishing, he was saying he liked oil finishes at the moment...... silly

Oil on oak cannot be beat. I'd go with single TBGtapered from 1" to 11/16". Nice fork.

I soaked it in a linseed and mineral spirits mix for a few hours ,looking ok ,i will put it back and leave over night .

its more than ok looking, its awesome! and you can tell those forks are going to be sturdy.
