hi ! i am from india and have been using self made slingshots for some time. decided to buy a good one to keep in my car and that was when i ran into this website with its wealth of data. i am interested in shooting, angling and motoring. looking forward to help in picking out a robust slingshot with easy repair capability. i am tough on my gear and need something tough and timeless.
ammo used will be glass marbles. just a term of reference i have been able to land a marble on target using a homemade slingshot from around 35 yds. looking to improve on the same.
i will be using it for vermin and plinking.
thanks and hoping to contribute something to this niche forum for like minded people.

hey mate,
There are some pretty bullet proof slingshots around here designed for just that.
Check out Bill Hays G10 slingshots if you're looking for deathproof slingshots. There are many others here that are awesome shooters, but if you're looking for deathproof slingshots, definitely check out Bill Hays pocket predator slingshot series, man.

i have been an avid shooter and am an avid angler. the thing i can see in common without even going through the forum contents is that this sport form seems to engender the same type of passion. just as you never have enough plugs and tackle and the next scope is going to be your last, it seems that i will be getting a few ss in the future.
seriously though i will pick up a good one to get a feel of the adult level ss and then add to the line up. one issue i foresee is the availability of lead / steel ammo here (india). marbles can be picked up easy though and will work reasonably well. will be looking to get a mold made for casting lead around .38 or so.

Hey buddy and welcome to our addiction :)

If you are interested in casting .38 cal lead, I cant say enough good things about the Lee 000 Buckshot mold. 18 x 38 cal balls in a single pour with built in sprue cutter. Sure it's pricier than other options, but I think the precision is worth it.

i have been using the most basic rubber tubes and forked tree branches for my slingshots. the rubber was the worst item as i was unaware that we had rubber specifically for slingshots.
after yesterday i have been able to look up steel ball manufacturers in india and the lee caster as suggested is a good idea.

i have one question though. what do you guys recommend in the way of rubber bands or tubes ?

My band of preference is Thera Band Gold (flats) and I sometimes use the thinner 'Chinese' tubes, usually 1842 or 1745.

It's kinda like taste in music, everyone has their own preference. The only way to find out what works best for you is to give a few of the various options a go.

thanks guys have finally ordered one axiom tactical from flippingout. i interacted with Mr Bill H, A+ and hogan castings , great guys to talk to esp A+ who helped me in a very forthright manner. i decided to go in for the axiom as it seems to be a good way to start into the game and i was impatient to get my hands on a ss after seeing all that you guys have done with them.
now fingers crossed waiting for the dang thing to arrive !
