Here is one I knocked up on nightshift tonight to pass the time.. Made of stainless rod (6mm) and some flattened 3/4in tubing for the handle. Pouch is made from the thumb section of a welding glove and is pretty thick but soft and pliable. The bands are longish (90-100cm draw) but thin since I don't want to damage anything at work lol...

It's a bit rough but it gets the job done :)

Looks like you have a huge draw length on that one. Very nice!

When I stretch my arms I'm just shy of 2m tip to tip so I need a decent draw :) I think handle to jaw is about 90cm...

That is a very futuristic looking slingshot ... or maybe 1950's retro futurisitic. Nice job.

Cheers ........ Charles

Very nice, I'm quite liking these homebrewed, steel slingshots. One of these days I'd like to try making one. :)

Go for it Sean... It literally took me about an hour including cutting the pouch, bands and putting it all together. These rod based slingshots have to be the easiest to make yourself IMHO...

Yeh :bashful:

Ended up replacing it with a strip of leather from a welding glove...

Great job using the welding glove, I like how you matched up the blue.

One thing I found when doing the steel fork was sharp edges from beating it and holding in the vise... I smoothed them off with a file and then sanded them smooth but was still concerned about abrasion on the bands. So what I did was to wrap the fork tip with the binding strip then place he band then wrap around over it so it is sandwiched by the binding strip.. Seems to work well :)
