Think I'm going to make a ceramic slingshot as my first slingshot, because it's easy to work with, and it is super strong when fired.

I thought about doing that. However I would use a metal rod frame and build the ceramic around it.

That sounds like a neat idea but have you thought about using "metal clay"? They have brass, bronze and even steel, so you could make a metal frame using the same skills and tools as for ceramics.
