I hope this hasn't been asked before, if so forgive, but since getting the bug for the bareback style I've been wondering, will shooting bareback be as effective as forks in say a hunting situation, or would forks be more accurate at longer ranges? I remember someone stating how much easier it was for them to pull a heavier set of bands/tubes - due to wrist problems in the past, made since due to a more direct in-line draw where you don't have that distance from web of hand to fork tips - thoughts?

Yeah, I saw a video of a chinese guy slamming bolts into a target with bareback shooting. I cringed at the thought of a bolt going into his hand! I've tried bareback, and although I'm okay now at shooting (I did slam my knuckles with a ball though) I can't seem to hit targets as consistently as I'd like... But then again I've been practicing more with hand held frames.

I still like the bareback style, but I can see I'll hav-ta try these PFS, see if they will give me the killing power I'm looking for
and still be more direct- in- line drawing then the higher fork models.

Shooting bareback usually means that the length and balance of the two bands can vary every time you shoot. Both of those factors can affect accuracy. If you anchor the bands to something (like a piece of leather wrapped around your finger, for example) you eliminate those problems but that's basically turning your hand into a pickle-fork shooter.
But wow, I wouldn't shoot bolts bareback unless I could figure out some way to give them that "tweak" on release, to keep them from hitting my hand. I can't think of how that would work reliably with an arrow or bolt.

Bareback shooting means NO fork ... just holding the bands between your fingers, leading the bands over your index finger. Try the search function on this forum.

Thanks ... I am aware of the differences. I have tried it both ways. I have smashed the knuckle of my middle finger with the fist hold and the knuckle of my thumb with the index finger technique. For the most impressive demonstration of bare back shooting, look here:

The fist technique is here sometimes referred to as "Jax style". Check it out here:
