Whoa boy. I caught a thread on another forum about slingshots and that post lead me here a week ago :) I've been reading nonstop since.

I know I had a wrist supported model 20+ years ago but I can't recall the style much less the name or maker.

I would love to try my hand at slingshots again and just payed for an A+ model Rough n' Ready (it's going to be hard waiting the couple of weeks to have it made). I love plinking with my .22 pistols and rifles and I've been known to dispatch a pesky rodent or two with a pellet gun or quiet subsonic rounds like the Calibre or Moderator. Now I look forward to thumping a few pests with my slingshot. Paper targets and cans are always fair game as well.

I'm 6'6" and have the wingspan of an Albatros, Is it likely I will need to buy a longer set of aftermarket bands/tubes? I asked Perry over at A+ to surprise me with a couple different bands because I just don't know enough about them to be picky.

Welcome Thirston. I believe you will be pleased with the rough and ready from A+. Mine has been a great plus to my arsenal.
Keep in mind that there are some very good vendors on this forum who will be very willing to fit you with all of your slingshot needs.

It is good to see yet another North Carolina slingshot enthusiast.

Thirston I think you made a good choice to start back into slingshots. When I started back I got one of A+ PS3 models and a BB shooter. Had so much fun I have now bought many from our vendors. I got the bug bad.

Thank you all for the warm welcome.

I'm patiently waiting on my A+ PS2 and an A+ PeeWee to be built and shipped. I'm also trying to get my hands on some assorted chrome steel shot so I have something to shoot when the hardware arrives. I'll probably hit up my local Dicks Sporting or Bass Pro to see what size lead shot I can find. Unfortunately I work 6 days a week, often 10+ hrs/day, to keep food on the table and a roof over our heads (wife and 2 children) so I don't have much spare time to take up casting my own lead rounds.

I've already talked to Royal Steel. I have a feeling that the minimum 25lbs would last me 3 lifetimes. I'd also like to find a few different sizes to try out. Royal Steel asked that I place at least a 15lb minimum order of any one size. So, if I want to try out some 1/4", 3/8", 3/4" etc... that's 45lbs of steel.

Trumark sells ammo at a halfway decent price and accepts much smaller orders. Also A+ sells sample packs I think.

Welcome

Glad to see another NC member here. I believe there are enough of us to warrant a NC shoot in the near future where in NC are you located?

As for ammo, drop me a PM and I can help you out with some variety in small quantities.
