I received a huge surprise from Bill this morning I knew he was going to send some of those strike it anywhere matches to me ,but I also received many extra's as you will see in the video, but I don't know why unless it has connections to the slingshot can shooting league, Don't get me wrong I am very surprised and very grateful thanks again Bill. Oh one more thing a programme that Bill has mentioned before is showing on sky documentaries here in the UK tonight on the military channel, it is called Top shot showing at 9pm so I will be taking a look at that.

The slingshot looks like the same material used to make knife cutting boards here in the states.

Hello Hawk... you won the stuff in the can shooting contest Man!

I'll tell you what I've learned through MUCH trial, error and correct when striking matches with a slingshot as well... so you can get some lightups on video.
First you want to have the match holder/clamp to have a little give... a large pony clamp is about perfect. The weight allows a little give, plus you can angle the match about 11 degrees towards you... which is the next part of the equation. Angle the match so that you can hit the red and white at the same time with a scrape... not a hit.
If you hit the match head it'll merely knock a chunk off, but if you barely scrape the thing when it's at the correct angle and has a little give... then you've got fire!

You'll notice on some of my videos whenever I use the larger clamp the matches light fairly easily it seems... but when shooting at the ones that are suspended upside down and in a tiny pony clamp... those don't light nearly as easily. So my suggestion is light up a few and get it on video using the large stationary pony clamp setup before moving on to the "impossibly difficult" suspended upside down and held by a tiny clamp setup..
Anyway, have FUN and good luck, it's one of if not the most difficult shots that can be done with any weapon. The only thing more difficult would be a thrown into the air match, then strike it with a slingshot.... and that's not going to happen anytime soon.
I know you're more than capable and now you've got the same matches I use... so get 'er done!

You'll note when watching that show, that it seems like there'd be a lot of people who can beat those guys at marksmanship based events... you included!

I'm sure you can do it Hawk. From what I've seen you are the best slingshot shooter in the UK. There's others who can do a shot or two at a small target... after who knows how many takes getting it on video... but you're able to consistently put shot after shot after shot on target... much more difficult. Plus you're able to shoot paper targets as well... and even though I've trained for hundreds of hours on paper with all sorts of weapons they STILL tend to pull my focus out... so you're probably better than me at that.
Now you get to light a match with a slingshot... it doesn't matter how many tries of how many takes with that shot... you can either do it, or you can't and Hawk I know you can!
