The weather today was so nice that I had to spend some more time in my garage. I started a Tex' Classic in multiplex and red oak with ironwood on the handles and incralace turquoise crushed and filling the crack in the ironwood. I also started another mesquite natural with walnut on the group and fork ends, a little ironwood on the heel of the grip and incralace turquoise in the saddle of the fork. I have to sand and finish them tomorrow. I still have to drill and pin the fork tips of the natural. I think I'll use 5/32 brass tubing and 1/8 carbon fiber rod.

Wow man, I really like what you have done with that natural.

Are those fork tips pinned / secured in any way ?

EDIT : I should really learn to read better and not just look at pretty pictures :(

The natural will look a lot better after some sanding. I did the shaping with a 40 grit belt on my sander. It is a little rough right now. I was impressed by how hard the walnut is. It was more work to cut than the ironwood. It should polish up quite nicely, though. I'll post updated pictures tomorrow.

You do extremely nice work, look forward to the final pictures. One question, after you do all that to a fork, do you still call it a natural?

Here is the natural after a quick polish, but still without a finish. I put on the first coat of CA and I think it is going to come out pretty well. The grain of the walnut is gorgeous, the ironwood looks like liquid gold in the light and the brass and carbon fiber pins look like fancy buttons. I'm going to have to use the real camera when this one is done.

I've seen the finished product of this slingshot and it is incredible. You outdid yourself this time! Your slingshots keep getting better and better.
