First here's a short compilation video showing some of what's possible with a slingshot and some practice:

I strongly approve of Bill’s shooting videos. They are the best instructional videos that I have seen. Also dgui has some fine instructional videos. -- Tex

I came across Bill and dgui's videos back in feb before I picked up a slingshot so I had the best start, having never shot a slingshot before and I must say having two great teachers has got me fairly competent in a short space of time, now I have to say I don't have the time or the space to practice to ever become as good as those guys but I'm happy what I've achieved with their help....thank you Bill , dgui ;)

All for the fun of the game to me! Glad I could help in some small way to increase the pleasure you're having with the sport.

Amazing Bill!
I've already learned something - how to aim!

I never had someone who knew any more about slingshots than I did, and that's not saying much!
But there was no "source."
I never knew if I should use the forks to sight - like in archery, or just go by feel.
Ultimately, I just went by feel and instinct.
I can shoot a slingshot, and I'm relatively accurate for a layman - I can pick off cans and mostly hit my share of what I aim for.
Birds and squirrels feared me when I was a teenager!
But it as "hit of miss" if you will.
No consistency.
Can't say I'll ever be cutting cards and lighting matches - that's incredible stuff - but I know that I can get better.
I than you for that Bill.
So much to learn...

In this video there's a valuable tip in how to position the match if you want to light it... whether it's clamped or suspended:
