Really, i can't take this anymore, i use waxed B50 dacron cuz its what i have left over from my bow making string making days. Im not pulling super tight, just enough so the bands dont slip out, but the tearing wont stop, everything is sanded smooth, no sharp edges at all.

If not for this, my BB cut bands would last an insane amount of rounds.

How many shots are you getting out of them? Bands will always tear at the pouch, almost every time. This is inevitable when shooting slingshots. There are steps to keep bands lasting longer however.

With TBG sometimes 100-200 and sometimes i get lucky and get a ton of shots. Its been worse lately not sure why, maybe i need to get away from this dacron and get a thicker cotton thred?

OK, sorry in advance, but what were the Bards singing before they tore?

Now that the silliness is out of the way what kind of bands are you shooting? Are they tapered or straight? I shoot mostly 107 rubber bands lately, and they usually break mid-band after 500 to 900 shots.TB Gold and pure latex bands almost always break at the pouch, tapered or straight. I don't know where Theraband tubes break, because I've never broken one.

It is very hard to tell without more information. How many shots before failure? What kind of bands are you using? Tapered or straight? How hard are they being pulled? Do you pre-stretch them when tying? If so, how much?

You might try a more elastic material ... rubber band ties or rings cut from Chinese tubes.

Basically, if you are not satisfied, you need to alter something you are doing. It sounds like the problem is the method or material used in the tie. Try to change one thing at a time to see if you get improvement.

Do keep us posted ... let us know what improves the situation and what worsens it.

Cheers ........ Charles

AHHH, sorry about those Bards lol, and lack of info, just a busy day!

TBG, taper or not its the same, i do pre stretch and use a constrictor knot, and im actually pulling shorter with elbow bent so less band stress.

I am, shooting flat top i dontknow if this is somehow making it worse, but ill keep toying with it and see! Thanks for the replies :)

I played a Bard in EverQuest...lol

Off topic EQ humor http://ohinternet.co...THE_FAMOUS_BARD.

As for the tearing, my only suggestion is to tie on with thin strips of whatever band type you are using, using the wrap and tuck method. I have never tied up with twine of any type, so i cant really comment on that.

" rings cut from Chinese tubes " as Charles says. I use this method and have had no problems with bands tearing at all.

i uses this also, and find altho its not as quick as a constrictor knot, its not so harsh on the bands, altho i use tbblue for tieing, just me but i like the colour offset
