Firstly, please excuse the terrible Paint drawing, but I wondered if anyone had attached tubes to forks for TTF shooting with the " through the hole and loop over method " but instead drilled the holes from left to right across the fork plane, rather than front to back drilling ? This method suggests to me that the tubes would pass through the forks in a similar way to the way that they pass over the forks in OTT shooting, and could perhaps lead to better accuracy, provided the gap between the forks was at least 2". I don't have any naturals that I could try this on as they have all been drilled front to back earlier. Any thoughts guys ? Thanks.

i use the thru the forks method for 1745 drilled the normal way,but looking at that illustration its given me food for thought, ill try one tomorow if you want tubeman and let you kno how it goes

" food for thought " marcus, that's what I mean. If you have spare forks that you could experiment with, I would appreciate that, and your findings.

It appears that the tubes would have to be running from the inside first to prevent the tube from clustering and obstructing the projectile which could lead to blow back. Over the top is really the way but I have been guilty of experimenting too so wear gloves, glasses and a mouth guard.

Just ruminating out loud, with NO experience ...

Another potential problem I see with this arrangement is that there will be a lot of force on the tubes along the side of their respective holes. You will constantly be drawing the tubes directly on the edge of their holes. To prevent undue wear, you will need to make the hole a bit of a rounded groove so the tube does not have an abrupt corner to deal with.

To avoid the congestion problem alluded to by Dgui, why not bring the tubes to the outside of the forks? Because of symmetry, the pouch should still fly to the middle of the forks, but at least some of the band might travel to the outside. But of course you may get more tube abrasion from the tubes bashing into the forks.

Well, let us know how it works.

Cheers ...... Charles

a buddy of mine did this on a natural fork slotting side to side and bands running on id of fork but the sharp edges killed band life

I personally cannot shoot through the forks with anything less than a 2 1/2" opening between forks with 3" being preferred. I have a bad release and that is one of the problems with narrow forks for me. Let us know your results.
