  • We think that replies should always be on topic. We encourage and welcome debate, even if it's fervent, because we know how much you care about this stuff -- we care about it, too! However, your comments should be reasonably polite and wherever possible, lighthearted. Making personal attacks against other members, moderators, or admin seriously degrades the community and quality of the discussion, and it won't be tolerated.
  • While we're fine with disagreements, we're not that crazy about being the battleground for epic fanboy wars. We want you to debate, but when that debate devolves into name calling and / or cyclical fanaticism (especially when you've moved way off topic), it's not a good use of anyone's brainpower. Also, if you've come to SlingshotForum.com for the expressed purpose of whipping people into a frenzy (or whipping yourself into a frenzy), don't expect to stick around very long. It's easy to spot the folks who want to have a healthy debate and the folks who just want to troll.
  • On that note, we encourage our members to reach out to us personally and report other members who seem to be acting inhuman.... Together, we believe we can improve the quality of posts on this site. We are aware of the fact that any system like ours can be gamed -- and we're aware of the fact that people actually do things like make multiple profiles and argue with themselves simply to cause problems. Just be aware we'll delete and ban you for that, too!
  • Post deletion: There are many reasons your post might be deleted, but here are some of the most common ones. Spamming of any type, be it human or robot-generated, is always deleted. Trolling is also unacceptable -- we recognize that a lot of you trolls don't even realize that you're trolls, but believe us -- you are. We'll delete your posts if we feel they're disruptive or annoying. We also delete posts that are racist, sexist, overly obscene, or offensive in any way. We delete comments which are personal attacks -- whether directed at a moderator or another member. Finally, we reserve the right to delete any post at our discretion.
  • Banning: If you create a history of trolling or other offensive behavior, or you're simply a total jerk, we'll just ban your account. That means that your username, email, and potentially your IP address will be barred from our system, and you'll no longer be able to post.
  • You deleted my post. Isn't that censorship? No. SlingshotForum.com allows and encourages posts in order to further the discussion, engage our members, and to let interested parties have a good time (and maybe learn something)! These are not open forums where you can say whatever you please (visit http://off-topic.net if you would like to), and posting on SlingshotForum.com is not a right of law passed down to you in the Constitution. The moderating staff does not delete posts without good reason, but deletions are always at the discretion of the moderators. There are thousands of active posters on this site, and we try to keep the forums a fun, engaging experience for all of its readers.
  • There's a post that's offensive to me. What can I do about it? There's a "report" button on all posts which will alert our staff that the post has been flagged. We do look at all reported posts, and delete where we deem appropriate. Keep in mind, however, that we know who is reporting what posts, so think before you report -- you don't want to be on our watchlist for reporting a post for no reason at all, because that doesn't help anybody, does it?
By registering and/or viewing content on this site, you agree that you are exactly 13 years of age or older.

Images and video posted on this site should be PG-13, both from a sexual and a violence perspective. What is and is not Pornography is a subjective judgment. Before posting any picture, ask yourself if it’s something you can see in a magazine you don’t have to be 18 years old to buy. If the picture would only appear in a magazine kept behind the counter, don’t post it. If you post pornography, in all probability, you will be banned from the board. Watermarked pictures (taken from a porn site with a reference to the porn site included in the picture) will be deleted. Do not LINK sites with the above subject matter. Topics which include revealing photographs must be accompanied by a "Warning: NSFW" (Not Safe For Work) warning in the title of the thread. Any images containing images of dead animals should include a "Warning: Hunting Images" warning in the title of the thread.

Signatures should not be larger then 200 pixels high. If you have 2 stacked images in your signature they must be 200px or less total. That is, the ENTIRE signature including all text and pictures must be no taller than 200 pixels! No scripts are allowed in signatures. Only registered vendors can have signatures containing commercial information. This includes links to their sites, ebay ads, for sale threads, etc.If someone has a Signature that does not conform to the stated rules, the Signature may be removed without warning.

You must not use the general area of the forum for advertising. Any post that seems to have been made for advertising outside of the For Sale or Site Vendor sections will be deleted. If you make slingshots for the purpose of selling, and you post slingshots that you intend to sell in the general sections of the site, that is considered advertising. Paid Vendors may advertise in the Site Vendor's forum or in their own sub-forum. Members wanting to sell and/or buy slingshots and slingshot related items from other members may only post these items in the For Sale by Individuals section. The For Sale by Individuals section may be used by registered members to sell no more than 3 homemade items per month. Multiple (more than 3) slingshots may be sold by the member as long as these slingshots are from other makers and craftsmen. If a slingshot is posted in the Homemade Slingshot section, it must not be posted as For Sale until 30days after post creation date. For sale items falling within the 30day period will be deleted. No more than 3 times can a post be "bumped". This includes constant price drops and needless replies to keep the post at the top of the feed. Member status feeds or gallery pages may not be used to advertise for sale items. No advertising or promotion of for sale items, outside of the For Sale by Individual section is allowed. Spamming members with Commercial PMs is also not allowed. If you would like to become a Site Vendor please go here to purchase a Vendor Package: http://slingshotforu...endor-packages/

You are responsible for the outcomes of your trades. We only provide a medium by which buyers (whether they be vendors or individuals) and sellers may communicate. The outcome of your trading activities is your responsibility, not that of Slingshot Forum. Our position is Caveat Emptor. The site and management shall not be responsible for ensuring the completion of trades to the satisfaction of both parties. We are likewise not responsible for trades done off-forum by members and third parties. However, we do care that our members and vendors are behaving honorably, both on and off the forum. Any complaints that are unresolved should be reported to the moderators by using the Report function on the site (PM/post where the trade was done). The complainant should state all relevant specifics and if possible furnish evidence of any claims. We are not empowered to mediate, but we will bring the complaint to the attention of the vendor. If the site owner at any time decides that a trader has gone rogue, then he may, at his absolute discretion, choose to take action to protect members.

Members may not post false or unsubstantiated attacks on forum vendors and individual sellers. We may take action against members that libel others. Non-specific allegations against all or an unspecified member of the Supporting Vendors constitutes an attack on the forum and members making such accusations will be asked to specify the details of the allegation and possibly to provide evidence or other substantiation in support thereof.

Links to other slingshot forums is not allowed unless expressly permitted by SlingshotForum.com administration.

Discussion of these topics is acceptable when people remain civil. Everyone knows discussion of these topics requires respect for the sensitivities of others. Insulting members on the basis of political belief, sex, race, sexual orientation, or religion will draw immediate censure. This also applies to jokes on these subjects that could be found offensive. Frequent violations of this rule can lead to time-out or banning. This rule is liberally interpreted by the moderators, so be careful.

Do not hijack threads. Hijacking is rude and unacceptable. If you hijack a thread and find your post has been deleted, you have no need to wonder why.

Please treat each other with respect. If someone asks a question you believe is “dumb” don’t post a sarcastic reply. We all have our moments and none of us was born an expert in physics, or any other subject for that matter. If you have a problem or disagreement with a particular member, please keep that discussion private (e.g. by PM, AIM, ICQ or email). If you feel that a particular member has crossed a line and you want some action taken, report the post to a moderator via PM. Please don't be a drama queen by posting petty grievances for the whole world to see.

Anyone spamming this forum will be summarily banned. There will be no warning. No pyramid scheme crap and no "free i-pod" stuff... please. No writing scripts so you can make tons and tons of identical posts in a row. Tons of 3-word posts just to drive up your post count is obnoxious. It's somewhat alright in "Off-Topic" but it doesn't belong in any other forum.

Those that were banned were banned for a reason. As such, do not post quotes from them, pictures of them, etc. While they may be let back on the site in the future, during their banishment they are to be considered persona non grata.

Members are expected to use clearly legible English on this forum (with the exception of native language sub-forums), including correct grammar, recognizable spelling and punctuation, and appropriate uses of capitalization for names and at the beginnings of sentences. Leeway will be given to those who do not speak English as their native language.
